Grimm Fairytale Ball

{ Wednesday, October 27, 2010 }

Ooooh, I just love Halloween ~ its my favorite time of year! Living in Los Angeles has spoiled me because there are so many fun themed events all year round. One of the Halloween parties I'll be attending this year is the Grimm Fairytale Ball ~ I can't decide whether I'll dress up as Christine Daae (Phantom Of The Opera), Snow White, or Belle (Beauty And The Beast). Regardless of which costume I choose, I can't wait!

Stupid For Dexter

{ Thursday, October 14, 2010 }
I have a confession ~ I love Showtime's Dexter. I've been a fan since episode one and watch it religiously. The study of abnormal psychology has been a lifelong passion ~ I got a BA in psychology and wrote my senior thesis on sociopathy.

My friend Mandy Schneider is a charming & fabulously talented actress who is a fellow Dexter fanatic. Most of our conversations eventually turn into Dexter fangirling sessions, complete with schoolgirl squeals & crazy character conspiracies. Mandy & I decided to finally channel our rabid fandom into something constructive and Stupid For Dexter was born!

Stupid For Dexter is the 4th show on the Streamin' Garage network. Its a weekly show hosted by Mandy & yours truly that includes in-depth episode analysis, interviews with criminology professionals, trivia with TV expert Paul Goebel, plot predictions, & much more. Our set is a Dexter inspired "kill room." You can catch the show & participate in the chat room live every Monday at 8 PM (PST) on UStream.tv. Here is a teaser trailer Mandy & I made for the show:

Labyrinth Ball 2010

{ Monday, July 19, 2010 }
One of my favorite annual events in Los Angeles is the Labyrinth Of Jareth. Inspired by the masquerade scene in Jim Henson's Labyrinth, LOJ is a weekend full of fairies, goblins, mischief, mayhem, fantasy, and revelry.

Here's a description from the official LOJ website: The Labyrinth of Jareth is a Masquerade Ball based on Venetian Histories, Celtic Faerie and Goblin Lore. Lost within the borders of chaos and light, nobles dance among the Fey while goblins wait with hungry eyes in the wings of their court. Some of the most amazing fantasy artists, costumers and special effect crews participate in bringing a diverse host of creatures and mythologies alive each year within the annual LOJ Fantasy Masquerade.

I look forward to Labyrinth Ball every year! Here's a picture of me at LOJ 2010 dressed as Belle from Beauty And The Beast. If you have any interest in fantasy, fairy tales, costumes, or art, I highly recommend this uniquely magical event!

Anime Expo 2010

{ Friday, July 2, 2010 }

What a busy summer so far! I was recently invited to co-host the Anime Expo Masquerade alongside fellow voice actors Kyle Hebert (guest of honor) & Matt Mercer. It was a delight to host the biggest event at AX alongside my There Will Be Brawl buddies! (Also, humor me for a second & check out those fabulous Sailor Neptune inspired heels I insisted on wearing!)

The term masquerade or masq is used to describe costume craftsmanship & performance contests held at conventions for anime, fantasy, and science fiction. As a longtime anime fan & con attendee, it was surreal to experience the AX masquerade from a completely different perspective!

Aside from co-hosting the masquerade, I also had the opportunity to cosplay as Vanessa (human Ursula) from Disney's The Little Mermaid ~ the costume was a gift from my incredibly talented & creative friend Vani and I absolutely adore it! It was such a treat to join Lisa Fabio as Ursula & Traci Hines as Ariel, the fabulous & magical ladies of True Enchantment, for a photoshoot with photographer Andy Lee ~ here's a link to the gallery. All in all, it was a fantastic weekend!

T
aken from the website: "Celebrity Liar" is a game show where two celebrities tell the same story as if it happened to each of them. In truth, it only happened to one of them, and the chat room decides...who’s the liar?

The celebrities for our episode included Kevin Pollak, Samm Levine, and a special guest appearance by Matthew Perry. It was a wonderful experience and I'm so grateful to The Room Live's Robin Ruzin, Andrew Hill Newman, & Michael Davis for giving me an opportunity to be part of the show!

There Will Be Brawl

{ Saturday, January 2, 2010 }

There Will Be Brawl is a dramatic web series that parodies the video game Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Nintendo Wii. Its a dark look into a decaying Mushroom Kingdom & the lives of its citizens.

I play the role of Princess Peach and the final episode is now available on the Escapist website.

The series was created, directed, and written by Matthew Mercer & Zach Grafton. It was a labor of love and I hope you like it!
